OLV Choirs Begin New Season! New members welcome!

posted Sep 1, 2017, 8:53 AM by Diane Lapinski

The OLV Choirs will begin rehearsing and singing in the coming weeks.  If you’ve ever thought about adding your voice to one of the groups, this is your chance to get started. No previous experience is necessary!

The Sanctuary Choir sings at 9:30 or Noon Mass on Sundays throughout the year.  They will have their first rehearsal on Thursday, September 14, at 7 PM in the Activities Center Music Suite.   You don’t have to be a great singer or great reader to get started in this warm, welcoming group!  Give it a try!

The Contemporary Choir will rehearse at 8:30, right before Mass this Sunday, September 10.  This is a low pressure way to get started in an OLV Choir with the group singing regular, “contemporary music” at 9:30 or Noon Mass.

Spirits of Fire, a small, contemporary ensemble, will begin rehearsing on Wednesday, September 27 at 7 PM in the AC Music Suite.  They sing at 4 PM Mass on Saturday, September 30.  This group welcomes singers, guitarists, percussionists and other instrumentalists as well.  Come make a “joyful noise” with us!

OLV Bell ChoirRehearsals are on Tuesday evenings and the group plays at a Sunday Mass once a month. Try this enjoyable choir experience!  Contact Gail Ritchey at

If you have any questions, please call Music Director Joe Malafarina:  c- 814-571-3088  h- 814-466-6343  o-814-237-7832, ext. 223 or email

Gabriel Project

posted Aug 10, 2017, 6:05 AM by Diane Lapinski   [ updated Sep 1, 2017, 8:51 AM ]

Gabriel Project Babies: The Gabriel Project is a Pro-Life movement offering parish-based pastoral care to women in a crisis pregnancy. It is the goal of the Gabriel Project to help such women with all their practical needs, as well as offering them unconditional love in an apostolate of friendship throughout their pregnancy. For more information about the Gabriel Project, please call 867-5511.

If you knew a woman who was pregnant, who had 8 kids already, three who were deaf, two who were blind, one mentally retarded, and she had syphilis, would you recommend that she have an abortion?  If you said yes, you just killed Beethoven!

If you can help the Gabriel Project save some of these babies, please put your monetary donations in the Sunday collection, or mail them to Betty Gummo, c/o Our Lady of Victory Church, 820 Westerly Parkway, State College, PA 16801. A check made out to “The Gabriel Project/OLV” (a 501c3 non-profit) can be used as a tax deduction.

Donations of diapers, onesies, etc., can be placed in the wooden bin in the back of the church, marked The Gabriel Project. Due to liability, we cannot accept used toys, strollers, cribs or car seats. Thank you very much for your support of these mothers and their babies, especially with prayer.
