FROM THE PASTOR…..MY DEAR PARISH FAMILY,  now that we are a few weeks from the EASTER VIGIL celebration, I had a little time to ponder that experience.  For me, it was one of the most beautiful Easter Vigil’s I have experienced.  The whole two hours seemed like a few minutes to me.  I want to thank all those who attended the Vigil.  The church was full, for the first time in my five years.  Yes, it was well attended in previous years; but this year, the church was filled.  The participation by those in attendance was outstanding.  The music was very beautiful and uplifting.  With the added instruments, I felt the music truly ascended to the heavens, giving God all the glory and honor He  deserves.  And the singing of Handel’s Messiah truly summed up the whole liturgy.  Almost everyone stayed to hear it.  I had so many compliments over the music chosen and sung.  Thank you to Joe and everyone who was involved with the music.  I want to thank all those who were received into the church.  As I was administering the sacraments to them, I could see in their eyes the joy and happiness of becoming one with us at the altar of God.  I considered it truly a blessing to be God’s instrument in bringing them into the fullness of the Catholic Church.  And again, my thanks is given to all those who decorated the church, making it look so beautiful and through the decorations giving the glory to God.  Overall, the whole Holy Week celebrations leading up to the Easter Vigil and Easter Day hopefully renewed our parish in Easter joy as we proclaimed, “Jesus is Risen.  Indeed He is!”  May God bless you all.

I want to take this time to tell you how very proud I am of your generosity towards the Diocese and our parish.  Our total so far for the 2018 CATHOLIC MINISTRIES DRIVE is very impressive.  With 420 pledges received, we have $162,185.00 pledged towards our goal of $142,237.00.  Already we have $19,948.00 being returned to the parish for major improvements to the cafeteria and increased security for the school. I am very proud of the response.  Not only are we helping out many people through the Diocesan Ministries; but we are also contributing to the improvements in the school.  I believe that we are one of the few parishes who have already reached their goal with monies coming back.  I extend my thanks to all who contributed so far and encourage those who have not contributed to consider doing so.  Thank you all from the heart of a grateful pastor.

This Sunday afternoon at 3:00 PM, Bishop Mark will be with us to CELEBRATE THE SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION for our 11th grade students.  We welcome him to our parish and I pray that with the conferral of this sacrament, our 11th graders will be strengthened by the Spirit of God to be courageous witnesses to the presence of the Risen Lord in the world.  Welcome Bishop Mark and congratulations to our young adults.

Just a little help – OFFICE HOURS for the rectory begins at 9:00 AM and goes till 12:00 PM.  After lunch, the office will resume business hours from 1:00 PM till 4:00 PM.  The office staff will arrive at 8:00 AM, but please allow them to get themselves situated – coats off, desk’s cleared, a cup of coffee gotten and things in proper order.  It is very difficult at times to answer phones and help someone at 8:01 AM.  Please allow us to “get our heads together first.”  Thanks.
