FROM THE PASTOR…..MY DEAR PARISH FAMILY, as you know from previous years, the priests and deacons of the Diocese meets with the Bishop twice a year – once in the spring and once in the fall. This year the SPRING CONFERENCE will be held this Monday-Tuesday-Wednesday. Because of the conference, there will be a few adjustments in the schedule. There will be no 7:00 AM Mass on Tuesday nor will there be a 7:00 PM Mass or confessions that evening as well. However, we will have the regular Mass schedule on Wednesday with all day adoration. I appreciate your  understanding in this matter.

And along those lines, very shortly, I will write to all parishioners about some CHANGES that will  affect our parish schedules. With the death of Fr. Val and probably with no replacements coming, we will need to make adjustments so that Fr. Mike and I will be better able to serve you without suffering from burnout or exhaustion. The changes are not many; but they need to be done. I will address them in the next issue of my “Pastor’s Page.”

Just a reminder that REGISTRATIONS FOR THE VICTORY 5K RUN/WALK are now being taken. I encourage as many runners/walkers as possible to join us in this run. Last year, I came in 3rd in my age group in the run. This year I plan on finishing 1st. The proceeds for this event will go to support OLV Catholic School Sports Programs. There is more information in the bulletin; but I wanted to give this fund-raising event a push in my column. If you cannot run nor walk, maybe you might be a  sponsor of the race or possibly sponsor someone to participate. We had a great turn-out last year and I am very hopeful that we will have another great successful event for the school. Come and support all of us as we support the school.

I am truly grateful to all who have participated in the ANNUAL CATHOLIC APPEAL. As of this writing we have in pledges $193,796.74. This exceeds our goal of $147,384.00 by $46,412.74 which is coming back to our parish to help keep us in the black. To be very honest with you, I am proud of all your contributions. Many churches have not reached their goal, but we have. That, I feel, is due to the generosity of so many people who understand how generous God has been to them and this is a way of showing appreciation for His blessings. You contributions are helping to fund the many ministries in the Diocese, helping those who need them in the 8  counties of our Diocese. And since we have reached our goal, ALL CONTRIBUTIONS ARE NOW RETURNING TO THE PARISH. May God continue to bless our parish as we give of        ourselves to others in response to His command to feed, clothe, and visit Him in the presence of others.

The celebration for the SACRAMENT OF THE SICK will occur on Tuesday, May 10 at 1:30pm in the church. The anointing will occur during Mass. Those who are desirous of receiving the anointing are invited to attend.

HUMOR FOR THE WEEK – (as we enter into the wedding season) - Finding perfect men

At a local coffee bar, a young woman was expounding on her idea of the perfect mate to some of her friends. "The man I marry must be a shining light amongst company. He must be musical. Tell jokes. Sing. And stay home at night!" An old granny overheard and spoke up, "Honey, if that's all you want, get a TV!"
