Annual Catholic Appeal: The Annual Catholic Appeal is a vital part of the Catholic Church’s mission in Central Pennsylvania. If you have not made a gift to the Annual Catholic Appeal, please pick up a spare envelope in the Gathering Space. You may return it to the parish office, place it in next week’s offertory, or mail it to OLV.
To date 544 households have pledged 188,572.00 towards our goal of $133,917. Thank you for your generous support!
May Crowning: The annual Parish May Crowning of the Blessed Mother statue will take place after the 9:30am Mass on May 5th. Members of this year’s First Holy Communion class will lead us in this celebration to honor Mary, our Mother.
New Pews and Carpeting: This summer we will install new pews and carpeting in our parish church. The current pews are “original equipment” going back to 1969. They are not attractive to look at nor comfortable to sit on. The new ones will be contoured to align with the human spine and will have a lighter finish to brighten the church’s interior.
The carpet is still in tolerable shape, but it is not going to get better, so it makes sense to replace it while the pews are being replaced.
The good news is that there should be adequate funds coming from the capital campaign pledge payments to make this financially possible. The not so good news is that this will take place over two weekends in August during which we will be unable to celebrate Mass in the church. We are looking into alternate worship sites for the period when the church is unavailable. We should have a plan in the next few weeks which we will publicize in the bulletin.
Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! In the weeks since Easter, we have had several major liturgies in our parish!
- The annual Anointing of the Sick Mass;
- Confirmation for OLV and Good Shepherd teens by Bishop Bartchak
- The State Convention Mass for The C. D. of A.
- First Holy Communion for our young children
I want to thank all those who worked to plan and beautifully carry out these celebrations that reached beyond our parish to touch so many people.
And congratulations to all who celebrated a special moment of your life with us this April - it truly has been a great month!
RCIA News: On Sunday, May 5th at the Noon Mass we will celebrate the Rites of Acceptance and Welcome for those who will be baptized and received into the Church at the Easter Vigil next year, 2014.
Homebound Communion: There are currently three members of our parish who need someone to bring them Holy Communion in their home. If you are currently an “EMHC” and would like to help, please contact Msgr. Lockard.
Mass Schedule Change: This Wednesday, May 1st, there will not be a 7:00pm Mass. Masses will be at 7:00am and 9:00am.
