FROM THE PASTOR…..MY DEAR PARISH FAMILY, I want to take this time to welcome our NEW PARISH COUNCIL MEMBERS. Their names were selected at the 9:30 Mass last weekend – Stephen Mc Gregor and David Smeal. Their terms will begin at the September meeting. I want to thank also those who will be leaving the Council due to term limits and/or moving – Katie Tittman and Loretta Langton and Peter Tittman. May God bless them for their dedicated service to the parish and may God bless Stephen and David and the entire Council as we guide the parish, making the Kingdom of God present upon this earth.
This Tuesday, our parish will be going to see the musical JOSEPH at Sight and Sound Entertainment Center in Lancaster. For those going, please take note of the schedule. We will leave OLV church parking lot promptly at 9:30 AM, after the 9:00 AM Mass. We will stop for a very short food stop at a McDonalds on the way. We hope to arrive at the theatre at 2:00 PM for the 2:45 PM show. Afterwards we will have a family style dinner at Hershey Farms Restaurant at 6:00 PM and arrive back home by 10:30 PM, hopefully. This day is anticipated to be a fun day for the parish where we come together as a family, enjoying being with each other in a playful atmosphere.
Because of the trip to see the Musical Joseph and the priests attending with the parish, there will have to be some changes to the Tuesday evening schedule. THERE WILL BE NEITHER MASS NOR CONFESSIONS Tuesday evening. This will allow the priests to attend the show. Thank you in advance for your understanding.
After the final count from Fr. Ralph’s second collection for HOLY NAME OF MARY SCHOOL, the total came to a little over $9,400.00! From my heart, I thank you. Your generosity once again proves that you are good stewards of God’s blessings by your charitableness shown to others. With that donation, we are assured that the school will remain open for another year. I am positive Fr. Ralph and the children of Beyin send us their prayers throughout their school year. God bless and thanks so much. I am very proud of you all!
Once vacations are over, I will be holding another NEW LECTOR AND EUCHARISTIC MINISTER training session. This will probably occur at the end of September or early October. I am waiting so that those who are on vacations through Labor Day might have the opportunity to participate. Just keep watch on my page for the actual date and time.
HUMOR FOR THE WEEK - A man buys a pet parrot and brings him home. But the parrot starts insulting him and gets really nasty, so the man picks up the parrot and tosses him into the freezer to teach him a lesson. He hears the bird squawking for a few minutes, but all of a sudden the parrot is quiet. The man opens the freezer door, the parrot walks out, looks up at him and says, "I apologize for offending you, and I humbly ask your forgiveness. The man says, "Well, thank you. I forgive you." The parrot then says, "If you don't mind my asking, what did the chicken do?"
