FROM THE PASTOR…..MY DEAR PARISH FAMILY….. in leading and guiding a parish, a pastor relies on the help and assistance from many people. Here at OLV, many parishioners have stepped up and offered their talents, financial assistance and abilities to make our parish and school a    symbol and image of God’s kingdom. This past week, I again received notification that we will be receiving financial assistance from the JB GRIFFIN MEMORIAL FOUNDATION. The Foundation informed us that a monetary pledge agreement to Our Lady of Victory Catholic School in the amount of $25,000.00 over 5 years was gifted to the school. This donation is given for the creation of tuition scholarships for OLV students in need of financial assistance. The JB Griffin Memorial Foundation was created in 2012 honoring the memory of JB Griffin, a previous OLV parishioner. The Foundation provides financial support to charitable organizations that assist people in need. Donations can be made to the JB Griffin Memorial foundation at www. Jbgriffin foundation. com. I want to thank Mary Pat Griffin, the widow of JB and the Foundation for their generous gift to help the children of our school. God bless everyone involved.

This Sunday, our seminarian JONATHAN DICKSON will be ending his summer internship at OLV. It has been a pleasure having Jonathan with us. His willingness to help out in various ways at the parish was truly heartwarming and helpful to and for me. He will be ordained a priest in 2017 and I am sure he will make one fine priest, judging from my experience with him here this summer. I am very proud of him and I hope that he will consider OLV a “home away from home.” God bless you Jonathan and please do not be a stranger to us.

This Sunday afternoon we will have the NORTHERN DEANERY FAITH DAY AT THE SPIKES. Tickets are still available and can be purchased after all Masses this weekend from Chris Kirkpatrick in the Church’s gathering space. Hopefully we can have a great show from the Northern Deanery and root on the Spikes to victory!

A few months ago, I asked for your financial assistance for our group KINDRED JOURNEY – a group of concerned people who want to make life in Haiti better for God’s children. A little over $13,000.00 was collected and given to Msgr. Gaus for work to continue. I want to share with you a letter we received from Msgr.: “Dear Father Dadey, I am writing to thank you for the response from your parishioners toward our indigent Haitian brothers and sisters. Please convey my gratitude to all concerned for the contributions which they have generously donated toward the nutritional projects sponsored by Little Brother Francklin in Pandiassou, Haiti. Be assured of a remembrance in my   personal prayers and of the Haitian poor whom we serve in Haiti. Always with kindest regards, I    remain yours in Christ, Msgr. Arnold Gaus.” I too want to thank all of those who helped to make the lives of our Haitian brothers and sisters a little bit better. God bless and thanks!

HUMOR FOR THE WEEK - A Sunday School teacher was struggling to open a combination lock on the supply cabinet. She had been told the combination, but couldn't quite remember it.   Finally she went to the pastor's study and asked for help. The pastor came into the room and began to turn the dial.  After the first two numbers he paused and stared blankly for a moment. Finally he looked   serenely heavenward and his lips moved silently. Then he looked back at the lock, and quickly turned to the final number, and opened the lock.   The teacher was amazed. "I'm in awe at your faith, pastor," she said.   "It's really nothing," he answered. "The number is on a piece of tape on the ceiling."
