FROM THE PASTOR…..MY DEAR PARISH FAMILY, ANOTHER REMINDER – OUR PARISH                PENANCE SERVICE will be this Sunday afternoon at 2:00 PM.  This will be the LAST SCHEDULED          CONFESSION TIME at OLV. There will be 14 priests hearing confessions throughout the church so the          waiting lines should not be long.  Please make use of this opportunity to celebrate the forgiveness of God through the sacrament. If by some chance you miss our Penance Service, the last Northern Deanery Service will be held in Philipsburg this Thursday evening, December 21 at 7:00 PM.

And for those who are planning their CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR’S DAY MASS SCHEDULES, please note the following times for the Christmas Masses.

· CHRISTMAS EVE:     4:00pm in the Church and 4:00pm in the school gym;

                                                   6:30pm in the Church;  10:00pm in the Church

· CHRISTMAS DAY:     7:30am, 9:30am and 12:00 Noon

· NEW YEAR’S DAY:   Since New Year’s is NOT at holy day of obligation, we will have Masses celebrated                                                                                                                at 4:00 PM New Year’s Eve and 9:00 AM New Year’s Day. Please note the time of New Year’s Eve Mass is 4:00 PM and not 6:00 PM  as found on the card you received in the mail the Church. It was my mistake when first printed.

AND AN IMPORTANT REMINDER FOR PARISHIONERS – Parishioners must attend 2 Masses over the weekend of the 24th-25th:  one Mass for the 4th Sunday of Advent and one Mass for                                     Christmas.   Attendance at one Mass will not suffice for the obligation of Sunday and Christmas.  I know it is different this year, but be aware of the Masses your priests must celebrate from Saturday evening through Christmas morning!

I want to once again take the time to say how very proud I am of your generosity in making our GIVING TREE so successful this year.  I was told that there were over 700 gift ornaments on the tree and after the 12:15 Mass on December 3rd, there were none left.  I am so very proud of the goodness and kindness of OLV parishioners over the years.  And I am very sure that is the reason why God has blessed us so very much with an active and alive parish.  When we give a little, He returns so much more.  Thank you for your kindness and goodness.  I want to thank Mary and Bob Hershey and the Family Life Committee for their willingness to chair this project for the parish.  May God bless them and all who have brought a little of Christ’s light into the hearts of others.  Thank you from a grateful pastor.

As I have said to you many times before, OLV rarely receives any RECOGNITION for the many charitable acts it does for our church, our community, our nation and our world in many of its outreach programs.  I know that scripturally that is the way Jesus would want it.  But you know, it never hurts to get a “pat on the back every once and a while”.  Therefore, I have asked Chris Kirkpatrick and Emily to put together a list showing the generosity that OLV parish has displayed.  I will print that at some time in January on the  pastor’s page.  As I stated before, we do not do these things for anyone to notice. We don’t get any newspaper coverage.  But I feel parishioners should know where their donations go.
