FROM THE PASTOR…..MY DEAR PARISH FAMILY, I want to take this opportunity to say THANK you for being such a wonderful giving parish. A few weeks ago we have over 700 angels on our CHRISTMAS GIVING TREE. By the 12:00 Mass, there were only 15 gift tags left and by 1:00 on that Sunday, there were none. Over 700 tags were taken with gifts for over 700 people. I am so grateful to our parish for being so generous and kind to the people of State College Area. I have always praised and bragged about the generosity of so many parishioners and this example is just another item I can brag about. May God bless you for your kindness and truly being a light shining in a sometimes dark world for all to see. I am so very proud of all of you. Thanks to Our Family Committee for organizing this wonderful outreach, with special thanks to Bob and Mary Hershey, Pam Scott, Mary Grunthaner, Pat Hopkins and the CDA. God bless you all.
And again, along those lines, I want to thank all those who signed up to RING BELLS FOR INTERFAITH HUMAN SERVICES. In just one weekend, all the bell ringing slots were filled for OLV. May God bless those who were willing to give of their time for this charitable event.
This Sunday afternoon at 2:00 OLV will have its ADVENT PENANCE SERVICE. This will be the last scheduled time for the celebration of the sacrament before Christmas. So far, 11 priests will be hearing confessions so waiting will not be long. With all the opportunities that were offered throughout the month of December – Penance Services and regular times for confession – I hope that all had the chance to celebrate this sacrament, preparing their hearts for the celebration of God’s love coming into the world.
Below you will find the CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR’S MASS SCHEDULE. It is a little different from past year’s schedules, so please take note.
DEC. 24 No 9:00 AM Saturday morning Mass
No 9:45 AM confessions
4:00 PM Mass in the school gym and church
6:30 PM Mass in the church
10:00 PM Mass in the church
DEC. 25 Mass at 7:30, 9:30 and 12:00 Noon.
Due to Christmas Day being on a Sunday, I thought it would be beneficial to keep the regular Sunday Mass Schedule to save some possible confusion.
FOR NEW YEAR’S EVE AND DAY , again, since it falls on a Sunday, we will have our regular weekend schedule – 4:00 pm on Saturday, 7:30, 9:30 AM and 12:00 Noon on Sunday.
