Ash Wednesday: Wednesday, February 13th is Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent! We will bless and distribute ashes during (not after) all Masses that day.
The Ash Wednesday Mass schedule is:
7:00am, 9:00am (School Mass). 12:05pm and 6:00pm.
Fast and Abstinence: Ash Wednesday (Feb. 13) and Good Friday (March 29) are days of Fast and Abstinence. All other Fridays of Lent are days of Abstinence, but not Fasting. FASTING refers to only one full meal, with two small meals and no eating otherwise for the day. ABSTINENCE refers to not eating meat at all during the day. All those who have reached their 14th year are obliged to ABSTAIN. The Church directs the holy FAST to all those in their 18th year until their 60th year. (Canon 1252). The ancient practice of fasting and abstaining can occur throughout the other days of Lent. This is not obligatory and can take a variety of forms distinct from food.
Stations of the Cross: During Lent, Stations of the Cross will be Fridays at 7:00pm and at 1:30pm when school is in session.
RCIA News: On Saturday, Feb. 16th at the 5:00pm Mass we will celebrate the Rite of Sending for our catechumen Leigh Ann Gagnon and our candidates Colin Campbell, Mark Capriani, Roger Finke, Teresa Finke, Joelle Parks and Glenna Wright, who will go to the Altoona Cathedral on the 17th for special ceremonies with the Bishop. Please keep these men and women in your prayers.
