FROM THE PASTOR…..MY DEAR PARISH FAMILY,  this Sunday, February 18, 2018, the  Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown will celebrate the Rite of Election of Catechumens and the Call to Continuing Conversion of Candidates at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament,  Altoona, beginning at 7:00 PM.  These are men and women who are preparing to receive the Sacraments of Initiation at Easter from our parish and those in the surrounding area. The adults who are seeking Baptism will be formally named and welcomed as the Elect of God and the Candidates seeking full initiation will declare their intent and be blessed by Bishop Mark Bartchak.  All parishioners are invited to join our Catechumens and Candidates and their sponsors and families in prayer and    communal support.  Everyone is invited to attend light reception afterwards in the Cathedral Hall.

WORDS FROM OUR HOLY FATHER to think about this Lenten Season.  For those who are going to “FAST” as a sacrifice, maybe we could fast using the Holy Father’s words.  If we follow fasting  using Pope Francis’ suggestions, maybe we would make greater progress in our spiritual life instead of giving up a bag of potato chips.  Think about it!

· FAST from hurting words and say kind words

· FAST from sadness and be filled with gratitude

· FAST from anger and be filled with patience

· FAST from pessimism and be filled with hope

· FAST from worries and have trust in God

· FAST from complaints and contemplate simplicity

· FAST from pressures and be prayerful

· FAST from bitterness and fill your hearts with joy

· FAST from selfishness and be compassionate to others

· FAST from grudges and be reconciled

· FAST from words and be silent so you can listen

Next weekend, I will have the FINALIZED SCHEDULE FOR THE PENANCE SERVICE IN THE NORTHERN DEANERY for the Lenten Season.  However another reminder for parishioners that our Penance Service will be on Sunday, March 25th at 2:00 PM.  As always we will have many priests hearing confessions, therefore waiting will not be all that long.

ATTENTION CARE GIVERS AND IN HOME VOLUNTEERS: below you will find some new unused home care products that are no longer needed by the person donating them.  He thought someone who is giving home care might use them:

     make the necessary arrangements.

HUMOR FOR THE WEEK - Little Johnny's mother was becoming worried. She hadn't seen her neighbor, Mrs. Goldbloom in days. Fearing the old widow may have had an accident, she decided to send Johnny next door to check up on her. "Johnny, would you go next door and see how 'old' Mrs. Goldbloom is?"  "Sure Mom" he said running out the door.  A few minutes later, Johnny returned.  "Well," asked Johnny's mom "is she all right?"  "She's fine, except that she's mad at you."  "At me?" the woman exclaimed. "Whatever for?"  "She said it's none of your business how 'old' she is."
