FROM THE PASTOR…..MY DEAR PARISH FAMILY,  next Sunday, July 19th, the parish family of Holy Name in Ebensburg, Pa., will be celebrating the 40th ANNIVERSARY OF PRIESTHOOD OF MSGR. DAVID LOCKARD. There will be a Mass at 2:00PM with him as the main celebrant. Being that he was your pastor for many years, I felt that you would like to know and possibly wish him well in his continued priesthood. With our numbers dwindling down each year, I am sure Msgr. would  appreciate a note to thanks for all the years he has given in his ministry. The address is: Holy Name Parish, 500 N. Julian St., Ebensburg, Pa., 15931.

I am now taking nominations of parishioners who would like to serve on the OLV PARISH COUNCIL. With 2 members leaving, I need to replace them by the next meeting which will be held in September. If you know someone who you would think would make a good member, please  submit their names to me; or if you yourself would like to serve on the committee, you can also   submit your name to me. After a few weeks, I will “place the names in a hat” and draw 2 of them at a Mass. The deadline for name submission is July 26th. I rely on the Council for their advice in making decision about the parish. If you or someone you know would like the opportunity to serve, please send in the names to be placed in the hat.

I want to take this time to THANK Eva Corsaro and her team for a successful VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL EXPERIENCE once again this year. Not only did we have a few adult volunteers, but we also had many young people volunteering their time and talent for the children of the parish. That speaks highly of all those involved, wanting to give our young parishioners and friends an  experience of God in a fun and wonderful way. May God bless all those who participated and made it a fun week for approximately 100 very young people. Thanks!

Summer is traditionally known as “VACATION TIME” for many people. A few weeks ago I gave you the address of www.masstimes.org so that parishioners, when traveling, can log on to see what church is in their travel and the times Masses are offered. I would just like to give a gentle reminder concerning another issue when traveling this summer. As you know, church expenses do not stop throughout the year. When traveling and attending another church, your parish envelope might be sitting on your counter at home. Could I please ask that when you arrive back home that the envelopes missed due to travel might be turned in to OLV? We do count on your weekly offerings to keep the church operating in the black. I know this is such a small thing; but it truly goes a long way in meeting all expenses at the church and school. Thanks for your consideration and faithfulness in this. God bless.

And once again, thank you for being such GOOD STEWARDS to the parish. As your pastor, I never take for granted the generosity and kindness that is extended to OLV. Your charity to the church is praiseworthy and I hope that God will continue to bless you all for, once again, being good stewards of God’s gifts to you by your self-giving to our parish.

HUMOR FOR THE WEEK – A woman went to doctors the office. She was seen by one of the new doctors, but after about 4 minutes in the examination room, she burst out, screaming as she ran down the hall. An older doctor stopped and asked her what the problem was, and she explained. He had her sit down and relax in another room. The older doctor marched back to the first and demanded, "What's the matter with you? Mrs. Terry is 63 years old, she has four grown children and seven grandchildren, and you told her she was pregnant?" The new doctor smiled smugly as he continued to write on his clipboard. "Cured her hiccups though, didn't it?"
