FROM THE PASTOR…..MY DEAR PARISH FAMILY,  just to give you a heads up, as  you know Fr. Ralph is with us for a visit. During the visit, he helps us with Masses and confessions and things here and there.  Also, he always speaks at all Masses on one weekend, bringing us up to date about the progress of HOLY NAME OF MARY SCHOOL, the school we sponsor in Beyin, Ghana.  Fr. Ralph will be doing so in just a few short weeks and on the weekend he preaches, we will have a BREAKFAST in our  Activities Center for continued support.  We will also have a special second collection for  him before he returns to Ghana that will go directly to pay expenses for the running of the school.  We are looking at the 28th of July.  So please mark your calendars and for  that weekend skip the Waffle Shop and come to support Fr. Ralph and his school.

Do not forget to sign up for CATHOLIC COMMUNITY DAY WITH THE SPIKES on July 28 for a 6:05 PM game.  The tickets are just $10.00.  Our combined choirs will sing the National Anthem before the game and God Bless America during the 7th inning stretch.  Please call the rectory to reserve your ticket and enjoy a night out with your parish and the State College Spikes.

Once again, I want to thank our MAINTENANCE CREW – Mark, Ron, Colton, and David – for a wonderful job they are doing around the grounds of the parish.  With the grounds looking very beautiful, with the new sidewalks installed to prevent falling,  with the work going on down at the school, we should be very proud of what is being done.  You know most of the time, there is a tendency for parishioners to overlook all these improvements without any note of thanks for the hard work that went into making our grounds look so beautiful and the people responsible for the work.  We can fall into the trap of just expecting things to be done, but you know that a little THANKS can go a long way.

I want to take this time to THANK ALL PARISHIONERS who contributed to the special second collection for Fr. Patrick and his mission in Nigeria.  As of this typing, we have collected a total of a little less than $14,000.00!  That is absolutely amazing considering all the extras we have been having over the past few months.  I pray that God will bless all those who out of the kindness of their hearts contributed to his mission.  Whenever we do take care of God’s children, we are blessed many times over.  God bless and thanks again for being a generous parish.

HUMOR FOR THE WEEK - A guy spots a sign outside a house that reads “Talking Dog for Sale.” Intrigued, he walks in. “So what have you done with your life?” he asks the dog. “I've led a very full life,” says the dog. “I lived in the Alps rescuing avalanche victims. Then I served my country in Iraq. And now I spend my days reading to the residents of a retirement home.” The guy is flabbergasted. He asks the dog’s owner, “Why on earth would you want to get rid of an incredible dog like that?” The owner says, “Because he’s a liar! He never did any of that!”
