Attention Married Couples: As part of his Marriage Building Initiative, Bishop Bartchak has asked that each parish in the Diocese ask prayers once a month for those married couples of our parish who are celebrating a wedding anniversary that month. We will be announcing the anniversaries on the weekend of July 14/15. If you are celebrating your wedding anniversary in July and would like to be mentioned in the announcements and included in the petitions, please notify Diane at the church office by July 12.
Marriage Building Initiative: Seeing our Spouse through God’s Eyes: On our wedding day it was easy to see the very best qualities of our partner. In the day to day routine, however, those very qualities are not so apparent. Our sight is dimmed and sometimes we over-focus on the irritating, disappointing parts of our spouse. Imagine God gazing on your husband or wife with a loving smile. What does God see? Ask God to show you.
Pastor Away: I will be away on vacation from July 10 to the 24. Of course parish life will go on without me thanks to our priests, deacon and parish staff.
On the weekend of July 21/22 there will be a visiting missionary priest preaching at all the Masses. He is Rev. Jairo Franco, MXY. He is a priest of the Yarumal Mission Society, a society of apostolic life founded and based in Columbia. Father Franco has served in Columbia. Currently he is working in Kenya, Africa. He speaks English, Spanish, Kiswahili and Kisamboro languages. The goal of the Yarumal Missionaries, who were founded 85 years ago, is to witness the Gospel of Jesus Christ among peoples and cultures where the Gospel is not yet fully preached. They are present in two countries in Asia, five in Africa, and six in South America. In order to carry out their pastoral programs, these missionaries depend very much on the generosity of the Christians from parishes they visit. Our support for Fr. Franco is a sign that reminds us of our baptismal vocation: we are also missionaries of Christ.
Congratulations and Thank You! Our Summer Vacation Bible School was a huge success. Thank you to our DRE, Eva Corsaro and all who gave of their time and talent for the sake of our little parishioners. It was heartwarming to watch them and to see so many middle schoolers and high school youth volunteering to help them. Let’s remember “all things are possible with God.”
Thank You II! On behalf of the whole parish I thank Kay Tittmann and Anne Kenney for obtaining the new coat of arms of Bishop Mark Bartchak. It is hung on the wall in the right front of the Church. Check it out! It is quite attractive.
