FROM THE PASTOR…..MY DEAR PARISH FAMILY,  this week Fr. Antony will be making his CANONICAL REQUIRED RETREAT at St. Vincent’s Monastery in Latrobe.  He will be joining some other Diocesan Priests as well.  As our priests gather for a week of prayer and rest, please keep them all in your prayers.  It has not been easy this year being a Diocesan Priest in our Diocese.  Prayer is the  only thing that can and will sustain all of God’s priests.  Please pray for them in a special way this week.

Also this week Deacon Dave and the Deacons of the Diocese will be on RETREAT. I do ask prayers for them as well.  Their ministry has increased due to the work load of the priests and Deacons are a very important element is the successful running of a parish.  I will be here alone this week: please be kind and compassionate.

As you noticed already we have a NEWLY RENOVATED MARY’S GARDEN behind the rectory office.  I gave you all a heads-up in last week’s bulletin.  It truly is a very beautiful place to spend some time in quiet prayer or a place to just get away from it all for a little while.  Since it is a garden specifically designed for prayer and quiet, I would ask that it be respected as such.  Please be careful when bringing children into the garden that there would be not rock climbing or stone throwing.  I do not want OLV to be liable if someone would be hurt or fall while climbing on the stones.  We all need a quiet space every once and a while; I hope that Mary’s Garden can provide that place.

We still have a few PIRATE BASEBALL GAME tickets available for the game on July 20 against the Milwaukee Brewers.  The cost is $69.00 which includes field box seats under the over-hang and bus transportation.  Please call the rectory now for your reservation to enjoy a relaxing and hopefully victorious afternoon.

Even though it is a little late, I want to THANK all those who made our FIRST ANNUAL TRIVIA NIGHT for the school athletic program a huge success.  There were approximately 120 people in attendance who had a great time competing with each other.  I was told that the proceeds came to about $15,000.00 which is designated for our sports programs.  Thanks to Beth Anne Whalen for chairing this event and to all who helped make this an enjoyable night.  There is talk already for next year’s trivia night.  I even heard that some teams were planning strategy.  Thanks Beth Anne and her team.  Not only was it a financial success; but it also served to build up the parish as a family.  God’s blessings to all.

As we did for Mother’s Day, we do have FATHER’S DAY CARDS available for parishioners as a way to honor their father if he is still living or to commend him to the loving arms of God if he is  deceased.  Please fill out the envelopes and return them to the rectory so that we can place them before God’s altar through the week of Father’s Day.
