Happy Father’s Day: To all the Fathers and Father-figures of our parish, from your parish priests, deacon and staff!

New Pastoral Council Members: At the 9:00am Mass on June 9th, Loretta Langton, Joe    Malafarina, Michael Stumbers and Katie Tittmann were selected to replace Sally Lima, Andy Mazzara, Bill Taylor and June Weaver, whose three-year terms on our parish Pastoral Council will expire on June 30th. We thank our out-going and in-coming Council members for all they have done and will do for Our Lady of Victory Parish.

On behalf of our parish I also wish to thank Arnold Gashe, Ed Hughes, John Klara, Dave Koller, John Pagnotto, Horacio Perez-Blanco, Allen Smith, Ron Weakland, Lisa Berkey, Dorothy Kelly, Kay Machi and Tracy Sepich who allowed their names to be entered into the selection process. God bless you all!

Fortnight For Freedom: Catholic parishes throughout the U.S.A. will observe a “Fortnight of Freedom” from June 21st through July 4th this year. This period will be devoted to prayer that our federal government will respect the consciences of believers of all faiths and not impose its agenda upon us.  In particular as Catholics we pray that our schools, hospitals and other institutions will not be forced to pay for birth control, abortifacients and sterilizations through government-mandated medical coverage for our employees. We will begin our observance of the Fortnight with special prayers at the 7:00pm Mass this Wednesday, June 20th.

As part of this Fortnight, Bishop Mark Bartchak will come to Our Lady of Victory Parish on Sunday, July 1st to lead a Holy Hour for Religious Freedom at 7:00pm in our church. Please make every effort to attend. We need to join our Bishop in beseeching God to spare us from government interference in our religious life, which could conceivably result in the closing of Catholic Charities and even our Catholic schools.

The schedule of the Fortnight Holy Hours are:

June 21st -   7:00pm    Saint John Gualbert Cathedral, Johnstown

June 24th -   7:00pm    Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, Altoona

June 28th -   7:00pm    Saint Benedict Parish, Carrolltown

July 1st  -      7:00pm    Our Lady of Victory, State College
