FROM THE PASTOR…..MY DEAR PARISH FAMILY,  Sue’s dad delivered bread for a living. They enjoyed each other’s company, so he’d drive home at lunchtime and Sue would go with him. One day, they delivered to a large grocery store. When they pulled in back, the manager saw her and said, “I heard it’s your birthday, so go pick out anything in our toy aisle free.” Sue excitedly grabbed some paper dolls, but the big surprise was still ahead.  Her father, the store manager, and the employees stood with a huge lit cake, singing her “Happy Birthday.” She turned seven, and this was her first-ever birthday party. Thanks, Dad!  Today we do stop and say THANKS TO OUR FATHERS for all those things they do for us – known and unknown.  So often we tend to take people for granted and when we realize it, it is too late.  So today, we want to thank our Dads for all those surprising “birthday parties” that were given to us and hopefully will continue to be given.  To our Dads who have died, we pray that God may bless them with eternal life; and to those who are still alive, we give you our thanks and prayers. HAPPY FATHERS DAY!

As all of you know by now, we will be getting another assistant here at Our Lady of Victory –REV. JONATHAN DICKSON. If you remember from 2 summers ago, Fr. Jonathan was with us as a “seminarian in training.”  When I heard the news, I got on my knees and thanked God for the “coming of the cavalry.”  Being the largest parish in the diocese with the largest elementary school in the diocese, the work load has been tremendous being a priest down for over a year.  I talked to Fr. Jonathan and he is very excited about returning to our parish, now as a priest.  He was well received the first go round and I am sure that he will be warmly received once again.  His arrival date will be June 27th and, believe me, I will warmly greet him.  May God bless him and his ministry here at OLV.

Last week, OUR LADY OF VICTORY SCHOOL closed its doors for the summer.  I wanted to take this time to wish our students and staff a safe and restful summer.  We had a good school year.  The students were full of life; the teachers were dedicated and hard-working; and the administration led the school through the ordinary (and sometimes) extra-ordinary issues.  Thanks to all who made Our Lady of Victory School and Pre-School a wonderful place to learn about God and His love for them.

I want to thank JOAN AND CHRIS KIRKPATRICK AND THE KENNEDY DANCE STUDIO  PLAYERS for their wonderful production of “The Lion King, Jr.” staged last Saturday evening.  Some of the proceeds will benefit our school in Ghana, Holy Name of Mary.  The show was wonderfully staged and it was so nice for me to see our young people having fun while at the same time helping other children of their own age in another country.  Thanks so much everyone; a job well done!

2017 DIOCESAN MINISTRIES DRIVE UPDATE – To date we have received 451 pledges totaling $180,939.00!  Absolutely amazing.  Thank you from a grateful pastor.  This total takes one thing off of my mind.  And remember, all monies now pledged and satisfied are returned to the parish since we have met our goal.  May God bless all those who have contributed and will contribute.

HUMOR FOR THE WEEK - The father of five children had won a toy at a raffle.  He called his kids together to ask which one should have the present. "Who is the most obedient?" he asked.  "Who never talks back to mother?  "Who does everything mother says?" Five small voices replied in unison. "Okay daddy! You get the toy."
