Thank You Outgoing Councillors: This Tuesday’s Pastoral Council meeting will be the final one for Ken Demaree, Mary Grunthaner, Tom Mallison and Joan Stangl. On behalf of the entire parish I wish to thank them for their gifts of time and talent to OLV. Please thank them yourself when you see them.
Welcome New Pastoral Councillors: During the 9:00am Mass on June 15th, four new councillors were selected to replace the above. They are:
Jodi Ehrensberger, Marisa Flynn, Dave Koller and Ron Weakland. On behalf of the entire parish I wish to thank them for agreeing to serve in this way. Please keep them and the continuing Pastoral Council members in your prayers.
A Final Thank You: I would be remiss if I did not also thank those who agreed to allow their names to be placed “in the hat”: Barbara Neal, Ann Rigo, Sue Urbanic, Todd Hershbine, Ed Hughes, Arnold Gasche, Paul Leskowicz, Mike Ostroski and Horacio Perez-Blanco. Without their cooperation with the process, a meaningful selection would not have been possible.
Fragrance-Free Pews: At our last meeting the Parish Pastoral Council decided that the first three pews next to the wall on the Blessed Mother statue side of the church will be “fragrance-free.” In other words, if you are wearing perfume, after-shave or similar things, please do not sit there. Thank you for your consideration.
Brookline Communion Ministers: We need one or two additional extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion to bring the Sacrament to residents of the Fairways and/or the Inn at Brookline. This would involve one Thursday a month. Please contact Msgr. Lockard at the parish office if you would like to volunteer.
Marriage Survey: Our newly-formed OLV Parish Marriage Team is here to help married couples grow in the grace of the Sacrament of Matrimony. They very much want to learn what sort of events - spiritual, social, educational - married couples are interested in having take place in our parish. You can help them by taking a few minutes to fill out the survey form located on the “marriage table” in the Gathering Space. Thank you for your suggestions.
Field of Dreams: I invite you to join me and our fellow Catholics from the Centre Region to come to the State College Spikes game at 6:05pm Sunday, June 23rd at Medlar Field at Labrano Park. See the details elsewhere in the bulletin. Show your Catholic pride and sportsmanship.
New Director of Music Ministries: I am happy to announce that we have hired Mrs. Paula Mowbray to succeed Dr. Sara Hopkins as Director of Music Ministries for Our Lady of Victory Parish. Paula is a very accomplished and experienced musician, organist and choir director in several different churches “out west.” She will be moving here over the summer and begin her duties on August 1, 2013
Dr. Sara will retire at that time and go on a well-deserved “R and R” period. On behalf of the entire parish, I wish to thank her for all she has given to us over the past fifteen years. Please keep both Sara and Paula in your prayers as they begin this new phase in their lives.
Pews for Sale: As we announced previously, we are replacing the pews in the Church this summer. If you would like to buy a pew (or two or three), please contact Deacon Lapinski at 237-7832 or email@example.com. Pictures of the pews can be found on the church website. The deadline to request a pew/pews is Monday, July 1.
