FROM THE PASTOR…..MY DEAR PARISH FAMILY, this past Tuesday, we WELCOMED BACK FR. RALPH. Our longtime friend will be spending a few weeks with us again this summer relaxing from his work in Ghana.  At some time this summer he will once again bring us up to date on the work he is doing at Holy Name of Mary Academy.  Welcome, Fr. Ralph!

I want to take this time to THANK all those parishioners who have vocalized their support for our “mini capital campaign” for the improvements in the school as outlined in last week’s bulletin.  I have not received one negative word and the excitement among the students of the school, the families who have children in the school and those parishioners who want our parish/school to be the best are overwhelming to me.  As I said earlier, I am taking this step with complete faith and trust in God and in the response of parishioners.  A letter from me with a pledge card will be forthcoming and I want to say "thanks" in advance for all the support received so far.  May God continue to bless us in this endeavor. And please remember our July 16th meeting in the gym.  After the meeting, we will then begin the parish-wide campaign.

This weekend we will take up OUR SECOND COLLECTION for the St. Vincent Monastery            Missions. Fr. Earl was with us last week and informed us of the need for financial help for the         missions in Brazil and Taiwan.  Please give according to your ability to give.  If you need more        envelopes they can be found in the baptistery of the church.  And before leaving, Fr. Earl wanted me to extend to you his thanks for the very warm reception he received while visiting.  I too am grateful to you for the kindness extended to him personally and through your contributions.

Just a reminder to parishioners that we will again have the CATHOLIC COMMUNITY DAY WITH THE SPIKES on July 22 at the ball field.  The cost is $10.00 and they will play the Auburn               Doubleday’s.  Our group will also participate in the singing of the National Anthem and God Bless America. Please call the rectory to reserve your seat at the game and enjoy a night out with fellow parishioners and friends of the neighboring parishes.  It would be great to have a wonderful show of people representing our Catholic Community.

I am looking for some replacements for those who are leaving THE PARISH COUNCIL. I do rely on the Council for their advice and guidance.  This Board has and is a big help to me as I make the    final decisions for the parish.  Therefore, if there is anyone interested in being part of the Parish Council, please submit your name to me or to Betty by August 1st.  You can submit someone else’s name if you wish.  I will contact them to see if they are interested in running.  Before the September meeting, I will draw the name “from a hat” and they will be then placed on the Council.  Again, please nominate by August 1.

The most up to date totals for the DIOCESAN MINISTRIES DRIVE IS AS FOLLOWS: we have 550 pledges promising $235,564.00.  Our goal is $142,237.00 meaning we will have $93,327.00     returning to the church to help with the school improvements campaign that we will be starting in  July.  I am so very grateful to parishioners who are contributing to this drive benefiting many people in our diocese.  Once again, it is not too late to participate.  If you do not have an envelope, extras can be found on the shelves in the baptistery area.  Again, God bless those who have                   contributed.  May you be rewarded for your kindness.

HUMOR FOR THE WEEK - A family sheltered in the basement after hearing a tornado                      warning.  The husband told everyone to stay put while he got his cell phone from the car, in case the lines went dead. He didn’t return for the longest time, so the wife went looking for him. She was        upstairs calling his name when she heard our phone machine click on. “Hi,” a voice said. “This is Dad. I’m locked out of the house.”
