Priest Retreat: I will be away on the Diocesan Priests’ Retreat at St. Vincent’s, Latrobe, PA, from Sunday afternoon, June 3rd til Thursday evening, June 7th. Fr. Matt, Fr. Chinemere and Deacon David will be available for you pastoral needs.

New Pastoral Council Members: We will select the new Pastoral Council members (two men and two women) during the 9:00am Mass on Saturday, June 9th.

Coming This Fall! To celebrate the Year of Faith and respond to our Holy Father’s call for a New Evangelization, our Parish Outreach Committee, after consulting with me and with the Pastoral Council, will be offering an opportunity to gather in small groups to view and discuss the very  popular DVD series Catholicism. Perhaps you have seen some of the programs on PBS or EWTN. The groups will meet at different times and days during the daytime and evenings. The creators of the DVD’s have also written accompanying supplemental materials which we will use to guide our discussions as we together deepen our understanding of the Catholic faith. You can watch a preview at http//www.wordonfire.org

If you would like to join or help to facilitate a group this October, please call the parish     office at 237-7832 or email us at office@ourladyofvictory.com.

Attention Married Couples: As part of his Marriage Building Initiative, Bishop Bartchak has asked that each parish in the Diocese ask prayers once a month for those married couples of our parish who are celebrating a wedding anniversary that month.  Here at OLV, we will begin doing this in June.  The weekend will be that of June 16/17.  If you are celebrating your wedding anniversary in June and would like to be mentioned in the announcements and included in the petitions, please notify Diane at the church office by June 14th.

Marriage Building Initiative Reflection: The Trinity is a community of love. So is a married couple! The Church understands marriage to be “a communion of persons,” a “communion of self-giving love” from which comes the gift of life. “A man and a woman united in marriage as husband and wife serve as a symbol of both life and love in a way that no other relationship of human persons can.” Marriage: Love and Life in the Divine Plan, 2009 letter from    U. S. Bishops.

Capital Campaign Update: I wish to thank all who have contributed to or worked for our Parish Capital Campaign. The response has been extremely good! We have received $2,531,643.00 in pledges from 561 donors.  We have received $1,045,727.98 in cash from the payments on   pledges. God bless all of you.

Welcome, Maria! On behalf of our parish, I welcome Maria Gdovin to our staff. She will be responsible for Youth Ministry to those in grades 6 through 12, not including Religious Education programs. (Eva Corsaro remains as our D.R.E.)

Maria is a 2012 graduate from Penn State will a degree in Human Development and  Family Studies. She grew up in a small town northeast of Philadelphia in Bucks County. Last year, she began teaching Religious Education for sixth grade and helping with the high school youth group. This year, she interned with Fr. Matt and the youth ministry program.  Through  interning, she has helped form the weekly middle school youth group and helped with events with the high school youth group. She strongly believes that youth are the present and future of our church and they can do awesome things, if given the right tools.
