FROM THE PASTOR…..MY DEAR PARISH FAMILY, as we are preparing to close down another school year, I want to take this time to THANK the parishioners of Our Lady of Victory for their  support of our school.  By now, all of you should know of my complete support of our school.  With almost 450 students, pre-school through 8th grade, we are serving God’s children in a very special way.  To impart the knowledge of God’s love into the lives of His children is beyond words of importance.  With a dedicated staff of administrators, teachers and aides, we do provide the very best of education for our children.  But yet in order to run such a successful program for the largest elementary school in the Diocese, the help of parishioners is absolutely necessary.  Because our tuition is kept below the per pupil actual cost, financial assistance from the parish – parishioners – is needed.  The cost to educate a student is a little short of $5,000.00.  Tuition for each student is roughly $2,000.00 less than the total cost.  It is that lower amount because I want to make affordable for all families a Catholic Education for their children.  Because we do keep the costs down and not run the school purely on a tuition based program alone, the parish subsidizes the school.  This past year the subsidy will come in around $400,000.00 and next budget year we are projecting a subsidy of $430,000.00.  Where does that money come from? SUNDAY COLLECTIONS – FROM YOU THE PARISHIONERS. We are asking families who can afford the full per pupil cost to help us out in this area.  But for those families who cannot, your children will not be turned away and there will be scholarships available to help you meet even the lower amount of requested payment for tuition.  But I am writing this to the parish thanking all of you for your commitment to Catholic           Education that is helping us to, once again, bring the love of God into the lives and hearts of His                 children.  We have a great school; we have waiting lists for some classes; we have a wonderful spirit throughout the building.  May God continue to bless us as we continue to go forward providing the best for His children.

As we did for Mother’s Day, we do have FATHER’S DAY CARDS available for parishioners as a way to honor their father if he is still living or to commend him to the loving arms of God if he is  deceased.  Please fill out the envelopes and return them to the rectory so that we can place them before God’s altar through the week of Father’s Day.

If you have not already noticed, we have a newly “renovated” MARY’S GARDEN which is located behind the rectory office.  The Garden needed a new face lift and I asked Mark, Ron, Peter and  Colten, our maintenance crew, to come up with a plan and to put it into action.  They have done a fabulous job and I am sure that it is a Garden that Mary and our parishioners can be proud of.  If you have not seen it yet, please do so by entering it from the upper parking lot closest to the  rectory.

OUR 2017 DIOCESAN MINISTRIES DRIVE UPDATE: THANK YOU….THANK YOU…..THANK YOU…..WE HAVE GONE OVER OUR GOAL! With 366 pledges made for a total of $150,289.00 we have exceeded our goal by approximately $6,000.00.  That means that every contribution from this moment onward comes back to the parish for our own needs.  And more good news….there are still about 1500 pledge cards still out.  I just want to say of how proud I am of our parish and parishioner generosity.  May God bless all those who have given and those who still will give.  God bless and thanks.

HUMOR FOR THE WEEK - Little Johnny asked and received help from a librarian on how to use the card catalog. In a little while, he approached the librarian again, wanting to know how to spell "tequila."  "T-e-q-u-i-l-a," spelled the librarian, and Little Johnny thanked her and went back to his search.  A short time later he came back to the desk, looking quite distraught. "I just can't find it," he said.  "What book are you looking for?" the librarian asked.  Little Johnny replied, "Tequila Mockingbird."
