FROM THE PASTOR…..MY DEAR PARISH FAMILY, A man stopped at a flower shop to order some flowers to be wired to his mother who lived two hundred miles away. As he got out of his car he noticed a young girl sitting on the curb sobbing. He asked her what was wrong and she replied, "I wanted to buy a red rose for my mother. But I only have seventy-five cents, and a rose costs two dollars." The man smiled and said, "Come on in with me. I'll buy you a rose." He bought the little girl her rose and ordered his own mother's flowers. As they were leaving he offered the girl a ride home. She said, "Yes, please! You can take me to my mother." She directed him to a cemetery, where she placed the rose on a freshly dug grave. The man returned to the flower shop, canceled the wire    order, picked up a bouquet and drove the two hundred miles to his mother's house. Today we honor those moms who deserve more than a bouquet of flowers. May today be for you a day of deserved love and affection from your children and may God bless you for all you have done and are doing for your children. And if our mothers have gone to God, may He give them the eternal rest they deserve. Happy Mother’s Day to all.

As a small token of our love and appreciation for all moms, we have purchased small booklets     entitled, MOTHER’S PRAYERS. These booklets are just a small gift from the parish thanking all moms for their love given throughout all our lives. Please feel free to take one and enjoy the prayers found within them. Again, may God bless our moms.

This Thursday the church celebrates THE ASCENSION OF THE LORD JESUS INTO HEAVEN, a holy day of obligation. Masses will be celebrated on Wednesday evening at 6:00, Thursday at 7:00 and 9:00 AM, 12:05 and 6:00 PM. Because of the holy day and the number of Masses to be prayed, there will be no all-day adoration. The Rectory Office will also be closed on Thursday. It will reopen at 8:30am on Friday.

On Sunday May 24, Our Lady of Victory Parish will celebrate the 60th ANNIVERSARY OF MSGR. SAYLOR’S PRIESTHOOD. The Celebration will occur at the 5:00 PM Mass with a small reception in the Activities Center afterwards. Parishioners are invited to attend as we honor Msgr. Saylor for his years of service in the priesthood.

Next Saturday we will have the 5K VICTORY RUN that will be held on May 16th to benefit the  Athletic Programs at our school. We are hoping to have 200 runners/walkers participate. If you would like to help us reach the goal please go to the website, click on the 5k Victory Button which will take you to the page to donate or sign up page for the Victory Run/Walk. Thank you again for all your support. Without it there would not be opportunities for the students to participate in the athletic programs at a reasonable cost. If you have questions, please contact Todd Hershbine at [email protected].

HUMOR FOR THE WEEK - There was once a young man who, in his youth, professed his desire to become a great writer. When asked to define "great" he said, "I want to write stuff that the whole world will read, stuff that people will react to on a truly emotional level. Stuff that will make them scream, cry, and howl in pain and anger!" He now works for Microsoft, writing error messages.
