FROM THE PASTOR….MY DEAR PARISH FAMILY, as we celebrate MOTHER’S DAY this weekend, I found the following items in my reading, entitled, Things Mom Would Never Say. I hope you find them humorous as I did. •"How on earth can you see the TV sitting so far back?" •"Yeah, I used to skip school a lot, too" •"Just leave all the lights on ... it makes the house look more cheery" •"Let me smell that shirt -- Yeah, it's good for another week" •"Go ahead and keep that stray dog, honey. I'll be glad to feed and walk him every day" •"Well, if Billy’s mamma says it's OK, that's good enough for me." •"The curfew is just a general time to shoot for. It's not like I'm running a prison around here." •"I don't have a tissue with me ... just use your sleeve" •"Don't bother wearing a jacket - the wind-chill is bound to improve.” As humorous and as real as they are, there is one thing mom would always say to us – I LOVE YOU! That is why we honor and celebrate these women today. For those mothers who are still living, we ask God to continue to bless them with peace, joy and love from their children. For those mothers who have died, we ask God to bless them with eternal life forever. So, God bless you moms and enjoy your day and thanks for all you have done for us, your children.

REFLECTION ON OUR ANNUAL CATHOLIC APPEAL – As all of you know, we are in the midst of our Annual Catholic Appeal, a.k.a. ACA. Each week I am given a report of our progress and a report is place in the bulletin as well. As I look over the numbers my heart is filled with gratitude to all who have helped us reach $172,103.00. We have surpassed our goal of $138,976.00 and I can now   report that all monies pledged and given from this point onward will be returned directly back to our parish. Over goal monies will help keep OLV in the black and will allow us to continue the many  renovation and renewal projects planned for our parish going forward. The above total comes to us with just 557 pledges, which means there are about 1500 more pledge cards to be returned. Therefore I do ask all those who have not yet contributed to the Appeal to please consider doing so. It will only help your parish at this time. And to those who have contributed, I extend my heartfelt thanks for taking this worry off my shoulders. OLV truly lives up to its reputation of being a very generous parish. As pastor, I could not have envisioned or wanted anything more. May God bless you all as we continue ministering to God’s people.

Due to the ANNUAL PRIEST’S SPRING CONFERENCE this week, there will only be a 9:00 AM Mass on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. The regular schedule will resume on Thursday.

This Friday we welcome our Bishop, Bishop Mark to our parish for the CELEBRATION OF THE SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION. Our 11th grade class of students will be receiving the sacrament, completing their sacramental initiation into the Catholic Church. Please keep them in your prayers this week as they also take this major step in their sacramental preparation. I want to thank Deacon David and all those who helped prepare them for this celebration. May God bless them all. Parishioners are invited to join us in this conferral of the sacrament at 7:00 PM.
