FROM THE PASTOR…..MY DEAR PARISH FAMILY,  it is very hard to believe that we have arrived at another ADVENT SEASON. Time has flown by and now we are preparing once again to celebrate the Birth of our Lord. I guess the saying is true, “As one get older the faster time seems to fly by”. Yet, we need these next four weeks of Advent, the preparation so that our hearts, minds and souls might be ready to receive the love of God in a more intimate way this year. Yes, there is so much that needs to be done, so many places to go, so many cards to write. But I pray that we will not get so caught up in the external things of Christmas that we miss the true meaning of the day – the coming in person of our God. May the next four weeks open our hearts and minds and souls to receive the graces that God wants to give to grow  closer to Him and to come to a better understanding of His love for us.

One of the ways to prepare for Jesus’ coming is through the celebration of the SACRAMENT OF RECONCILATION. Once again, the Northern Deanery takes the lead is scheduling penance services in each of the churches. Below you will find the schedule of the penance services. Please mark your calendar and plan to attend one of them.

      -  December 6 at 3:00 PM – Holy Spirit, Lock Haven

      -  December 9 at 7:00 PM – PSU Campus

      -  December 10 at 7:00 PM – Queen of Archangels, Clarence

      -  December 14 at 7:00 PM – St. Matthew’s, Tyrone

      -  December 15 at 7:00 PM – Good Shepherd, State College

      -  December 17 at 7:00 PM – St. Joseph’s, Renovo

      -  December 20 at 2:00 PM – OLV

Please take special note that our Penance Service will be on the 20th and IT WILL BE THE LAST SERVICE OFFERED IN THE NORTHER DEANERY. Since this is a deanery celebration of God’s mercy, your priest will be attending making our presence in the rectory a little less.

And for those who are planning their Christmas and New Year’s Day celebrations, please note the following MASS TIMES:

     -  NO 7:00 nor 9:00 AM Mass on Thursday, December 24

     -  CHRISTMAS EVE – 4:00 PM at Church and School Gym, 6:30 and 10:00 PM in Church

     -  CHRISTMAS DAY – 9:00 AND 11:00 AM

     -  NEW YEAR’S EVE – 4:00 PM

     -  NEW YEAR’S DAY – 9:00 AND 11:00 AM

I will repeat these times once again, but calls have been coming into the rectory already so I thought I would make them known now so family planning can take place.

The bus for our TRIP TO NEW YORK CITY THIS WEDNESDAY will be leaving at 5:30AM promptly from the church parking lot. Please be on time for boarding and bring your coffee. Donuts will be provided and the only stop going to New York City will be at a roadside rest stop along the interstate.

HUMOR FOR THE WEEK – As told by the father of the little boy - Every Christmas morning, when my kids were little, I read them the nativity story out of the big family bible. When my son was old enough to talk, he asked me what a stable was. I thought for a moment how to explain it to him in terms he could understand, then told him, "It's something like your sister's room, but without a stereo."
