FROM THE PASTOR…..MY DEAR PARISH FAMILY, just a reminder that as we journey through the month of November, we remember all those loved ones who have gone before us and hopefully entered eternal life with the Father. There are ALL SOULS DAY ENVELOPES in the gathering space for parishioners to return to the rectory with the names of their loved ones in order that the priests will remember them at all Masses throughout November. Even though we celebrated All Souls Day last Monday, it is not too late to have your loved ones remembered over the remaining days.
On November 17th at 7:00 PM the Mass will be offered for ALL THOSE WHO HAVE DIED THIS PAST YEAR FROM THE PARISH. Invitations will be sent to all families of their deceased loved ones inviting them to come to the Mass and light a candle in their remembrance. There will be a brief reception in the Gathering Space following the Mass. Parishioners are also invited to join us in this celebration of faith in God, who destroyed death and restored life for all His faithful followers.
Since the BAZZAR was held this past Saturday, I could not make my reflections on it due to time constraints with the bulletin. I will save them for next weekend. But I do want to make a quick thanks to all those who worked so hard to allow us to have this annual event.
As you all have seen, we have new additions to our church facility – MISSALETTE HOLDERS AND BENCHES. I am very pleased with how they look and what they add to the appearance of the church. I have heard nothing but great comments concerning the holders and benches. Beginning the first Sunday of Advent, we will have yearly missalettes that will have larger print. I am sure parishioners will find them very useful, especially those of us who have a difficult time reading the current small print version. And I do thank the Joe and Sue Rogacs who generously paid for the new benches. Thank you once again for the support given to our parish.
SEATS ARE GOING FAST - Our parish will be sponsoring a BUS TRIP TO NEW YORK CITY for a free day on Wednesday, December 2. As before, time will be on your own. MARK YOUR CALENDARS – DECEMBER 19TH will be OUR CHRISTMAS PARTY once again at the Ramada Inn on Atherton Street. The party will once again be my gift to the parish for being a wonderful parish family. Cash bar begins at 6:00 PM, followed by dinner at 6:30 PM. Seating will be limited so please call the rectory for your reservation now. I know that it is a month away; but we need to start planning now.
HUMOR FOR THE WEEK - When Bob went to lunch today, he noticed an old man sitting on a park bench sobbing his eyes out. Bob stopped and asked him what was wrong. He said, "I have a 22 year old wife at home. She rubs my back every morning and then gets up and makes me pancakes, sausage, fresh fruit and freshly ground coffee." Bob said, "Well, then why are you crying?" He said, "She makes me homemade soup for lunch and my favorite brownies, cleans the house and then watches sports TV with me for the rest of the afternoon.” Bob said, "Well, why are you crying?" He said, "For dinner she makes me a gourmet meal with wine and my favorite dessert and then makes love with me until the wee hours" Bob said, "Well, why in the world would you be crying?" He said, "I can't remember where I live!"
