FROM THE PASTOR…..MY DEAR PARISH FAMILY,  this weekend we welcome Fr. Dan Cambra, MIC, Director of the Marian Evangelization Team to our parish.  Fr. Dan is going to present our DIVINE MERCY PARISH MISSION. His congregation, the Marians of the Immaculate  Conception, is the religious community entrusted by Pope Francis to spread the message and   devotion of the Divine Mercy.  Father Dan will be the homilist at each Mass this weekend, inviting all parishioners to make use of this special time in our parish’s history.  He will celebrate the 9:00 Mass each day, followed by an informal discussion in the Children’s Chapel, a.k.a the Upper Room with coffee and donuts. Father will also present an hour long talk Monday – Tuesday –Wednesday evenings at 7:00 followed by refreshments in the Activities Center.  The All- Day  Adoration will end at 6:00 PM that evening in preparation for his talk.  Please mark out this time on your calendars.  In this weekend’s bulletin you will find a prayer to St. Faustina asking for her intercession for a successful mission this week.  Please, during your prayer time at home, pray this prayer for our parish.  Through St. Faustina, Jesus desires that every man, woman and child come to know of His love and mercy in their lives.  After our Mission I hope this becomes a reality for parishioners and guests of OLV. There will be a free will offering on Wednesday evening for the education of Marian seminarians.  Welcome Fr. Dan.

On Saturday, October 7 we will celebrate our feast day – OUR LADY OF VICTORY – at the 9:00 AM Mass.  The children will celebrate OLV day the day before on Friday.  If you can, come and celebrate in thanksgiving for Mary’s protection which we have received throughout the years.

The OLV SCHOOL WALK-A-THON will take place on Friday of this week as part of OLV Day.  This walk-a-thon is THE ONLY SCHOOL FUNDRAISER in which the school participates.  Pledges are taken and donations are accepted as part of this activity.  I do ask all families who have children in our school to please make their pledge so that this can be a successful fund raiser.  I am sure  parents appreciate this one-time event as opposed to the selling of Christmas Paper, pies, pizza and/or subs, magazines, etc.  All money collected from this event stays in the school and pays for all field trips and necessary items that the school needs.

My THANKS is extended to the Knights of Columbus, some of their spouses and the Boy Scouts for their help with our PANCAKE BREAKFAST held last Sunday for scholarships to high school for some of the students in Holy Name of Mary Academy, Ghana.  We had such a wonderful turn-out in support of this worthy cause.  In fact, we even ran out of the mixture for pancakes.  I think a little less than $3,000.00 was raised.  This will allow us to send some of the students to further their education in hope of a better life.  Thank you to all who sponsored this event, worked the breakfast and participated in enjoying having breakfast at OLV last Sunday.  God bless you all.

I would like to welcome the 3 NEWEST MEMBERS of our Parish Council:  Theresa DiMartino, Matthew Lingle and Joseph Mastropierro.  There were 10 names submitted to me and the above 3 were chosen “out of a hat.”  I do want to extend my thanks to Theresa, Matt and Joe for their willingness to come on the Council and help direct the future of our church.  I also want to thank all those who submitted their names or the names of others for consideration.  I appreciate all those who were willing to help their parish.

HUMOR FOR THE WEEK – A little girl and a little boy were at day care one day. The girl                      approached the boy and said, "Hey Billy, want to play house?"  He said, "Sure! What do you want me to do?" Sally replied, "I want you to communicate your feelings."   "Communicate my feelings?" said a bewildered Billy... "I have no idea what that means." The little girl nods and says, "Perfect. You can be the husband."
