FROM THE PASTOR…..MY DEAR PARISH FAMILY, As I reflect back on our PARISH PICNIC, what can I say? Not being a person who is lost for words, all I can say is WOW! As I was told by so many people, “This is the largest turn-out we ever had.” What a wonderful commentary on our growing parish family. For a pastor, my heart was overwhelmed with the response of so many families who took time out of their schedule to come and “play.” I feel that is what helps to make our parish so wonderful – people praying and playing together. To see so many young children playing, laughing and smiling was uplifting. I want to thank all those who made our parish picnic so successful. First, I want to thank our Heavenly Father for giving us wonderful weather and the opportunity to come together as His children. I want to thank the Knights of Columbus who allowed us to use their picnic area as well as their extra tables and chairs that were needed to accommodate the overflowing crowd. Thanks guys for your help. Big thanks goes out to Bob and Mary Hershey and Mary Grunthaner, organizers of this event. Their organizational skills and hard work truly paid off. Thank also to Dennis Marince, Pat Hopkins, Rodney Hopkins, Steve Milillo and Pat Hubler who gave all day help. Thanks to those who set up, cooked and cleaned up: Deacon Dave, Deb and Joe Reese, Pam Scott, Roberta Milillo, Mary Ann Spychalski, Pat Lutz, Mike Casper and Ed Sokol. Thanks to those who organized the games: Doug Lang and Dave Koller, Heidi Tittman and the Sicree Family. Without them the picnic would have been something other than what it was. And finally, I huge thanks to all those who came, who brought food to share and who stayed and enjoyed an afternoon with other parish families. May God bless each and every one of our families as we continue to grow in His love as a parish family.
I want to acknowledge MONICA SUROVEC as the newest member of our Parish Council, serving as the Teen Representative. She joins the other 10 members of the Council in advising and helping me to direct the parish, making us a mirror of God’s Kingdom here on earth. Welcome Monica.
Can you believe that since January, we have had 68 NEW FAMILIES register with our parish. What an amazing number of new members. I truly feel that one of the reasons we are having such an increase in number is the spiritual atmosphere present in our parish through our liturgies. And then from that experience with God, reaching out in love and kindness to others – my goal for OLV. To welcome our new parishioners there will be a NEW PARISHIONER DINNER in the Activities Center after the 5:00 PM Mass on Sunday, September 20. This will be our way of welcoming those who are new and answering any questions that might be raised. Once again, may God continue to bless our parish as we journey as a family to His Kingdom.
HUMOR FOR THE WEEK – A husband was trying to prove to his wife that women talk more than men. He showed her a study which indicated that men use about 10,000 words per day, whereas women use 20,000 words per day. His wife thought about this for a while. She then told her husband that women use twice as many words as men because they have to repeat everything they say. Her husband looked stunned. He said "What?"
