FROM THE PASTOR…..MY DEAR PARISH FAMILY,  as you have heard and seen from the new accounts, there has been much suffering due to HURRICANE FLORENCE. The news accounts have been heartrending, to say the least.  As always people throughout the country pull together to help those affected by such tragedies.  Here at OLV, we will be part of this helping process.  There will be a SECOND COLLECTION taken up very shortly.  I am waiting for the direction of the Diocese as to where to send our monies.  I am sure that we will receive a directive, if we have not already received one after the printing of this bulletin.  I will give ample notice as to when we will be taking up the   collection.  But until then, please keep all those affected in your prayers, which I am sure you are doing.

I want to take this time to CONGRATULATE the CATHOLIC DAUGHTERS OF THE AMERICAS, COURT BLESSED MADONNA #2521 on their 15th anniversary.  I am very proud to have this        organization as part of OLV Parish.  Over the past 15 years, their support of the parish and its priests has been outstanding.  I am very grateful to them for all these young women do for the        parish.  May God bless them and their Court with many more years of service and ministry in our parish.

This MONDAY, our parish will be taking a bus trip to FALLING WATER AND THE FLIGHT 93 MEMORIAL. We will be leaving the church parking lot at 7:45.  I do ask all those going with us to please be on time for departure.  We will provide donuts for a quick breakfast.  Boarding will take place at HOLMES FOSTER PARK.  Please park behind the church and walk over to the park.  AND PLEASE BE CAREFUL.  There will be school buses coming and going at that time and I do not want anything to happen to anyone.

The FIRST PARISH COUNCIL of the “new year” will be held this Tuesday at 6:30 in the Activities Center.  All members are asked to be present and we continue to “steer” the parish forward.

I would like to answer some questions about the SCHOOL IMPROVEMENTS CAPITAL                  CAMPAIGN. The first question as to when the work will begin: the day after school lets out.  When will it be completed?  We hope to have it finished by August 15th at the latest.  What happens       between now and June, when school lets out?  We are continuing to collect money and pledges in anticipation of the bills that will be coming in from the architects, the permits, etc.  All plans need to be submitted to code for their approval.  Meetings are being held to make sure that the plans are going forward.  So as you can see, there is much going on to make sure that we will be ready by the next school year for the completion of this improvement project.  And once again, I want to thank all those who are sacrificing and making pledges for a successful completion.  I am a very grateful  pastor.  May God bless all who are looking out for future generations of students at Our Lady of        Victory.

HUMOR FOR THE WEEK - The Pastor woke up Sunday morning and realizing it was an                exceptionally beautiful and sunny early spring day, decided he just had to play golf. So... he told the Associate Pastor that he was feeling sick and persuaded him to say Mass for him that day.  As soon as the  Associate Pastor left the room, the Pastor headed out of town to a golf course about forty miles away. That way he knew he wouldn't accidentally meet anyone he knew from his   parish. Setting up on the first tee, he was alone. After all, it was Sunday morning and everyone else was in church!  At about this time, Saint Peter leaned over to the Lord while looking down from the heavens and exclaimed,   "You're not going to let him get away with this, are you?"  The Lord sighed, and said, "No, I guess not."  Just then Father Norton hit the ball and it shot straight towards the pin, dropping just short of it, rolled up and fell into the hole.  IT WAS A 420 YARD HOLE IN ONE!  St. Peter was astonished. He looked at the Lord and asked, "Why did you let him do that?"  The Lord smiled and replied, "Who's he going to tell?".
