Sign-up for Catholicism! This weekend and next we invite you to come to the Gathering Space to “sign up” for one of the “Catholicism” discussion groups. There is at least one group that meets each day of the week, either in a home or in the Activities Center. When you sign up, you will receive the Participant’s Study Guide. We ask a $20 donation at this time to help pay for the material.

Pastor’s Reflection Session: I will offer one of my occasional presentations again this month. The topic will be “When a Loved One Stops Going to Church.” This will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 26th in the Activities Center.

Pastoral Council News: At our last meeting on August 28th, our parish Pastoral Council re-elected Ken Demaree as its Chairman and Patty Guay as Secretary. Joe Reese was elected as  the new Vice-Chairman, replacing Andy Mazzara who retired. Also the Council voted to    allocate funds to the following as part of our “Charitable Giving” program.

$1,070 to the “House of Care” in State College

$1,071 to the Gabriel Project

$2,140 to St. Paul’s Mission Grade School in Montana

$2,140 to Catholic Relief Services

Voter Registration Drive: Next weekend we will be participating in a nonpartisan voter registration drive. It you have moved, married or changed your name, or if you never have been registered to vote, please register next weekend. Tables will be set up in the Gathering Space for your convenience.

Annual Parish Novena: Our annual parish Novena to Our Lady of Victory opens on Saturday, Sept. 29th and closes on Sunday, Oct. 7th. The theme this year’s “Entering the Year of Faith.” The traditional format will be observed. More detailed information will appear in the following week’s bulletin.

Secretarial Position Opening: Our parish secretary for the last 16+ years, Joyce Hughey, will   retire this October. Congratulations, Joyce! Your smiling face in the office will be greatly missed. But if anyone deserves some rest, it is you, after all you’ve done for OLV.

Now comes the difficult part - finding a new secretary. We are accepting applications starting now. This is a full-time, paid position with benefits. Hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:30am to 4:30pm. Applicant must be able to keep confidences! Patience, a pleasant personality and the ability to multi-task are also essential, as well as facility in using a PC for emails, word processing, etc.

Interested parties should submit a typed resume with references to the office to the attention of Msgr. David Lockard. If you have questions, contact Joyce or Monsignor by phone or email.
