Do You Need a Faith Boost?

Do You Need a Faith Boost? The Heart of Faith class, taught by Deacon David Lapinski, will be held on Wednesdays, 6:30-8:30pm starting Sept. 13, at Our Lady of Victory.  This 8-week course is an overview of the four pillars of the Catechism of the Catholic Church and specifically focuses on the Creed and the Ten Commandments, using The United States Catholic Catechism for Adults (USCCA). Heart of Faith is the first course in the Basic Lay Ecclesial Ministry program, but can also be taken for adult enrichment.  The cost of the course which  includes registration and materials is $55.  For more information and registration forms please visit www.dioceseaj.org/lay-ecclesial-ministry/ or contact Marybeth at (814) 361-2000.  All are welcome! Fundraiser Breakfast for Fr. Ralph's Holy Name of Mary Academy

Join Us For Breakfast:

On Sunday, September 24 there will be a Fundraising Breakfast in support of Fr. Ralph’s Holy Name of Mary Academy Ghana Scholarship Fund. The Breakfast is sponsored by Knights of Columbus. The event will be held in the Gardiner Social Hall of the OLV Activities Building from 8:30 - 11:30am.  Pre-sale of tickets  will take place following the Sunday Masses on September 10 & 17.  Tickets will be available at the door on    September 24.  

Ticket prices:  Adults and children over 10 - $8 or 2/$15, Children (5-10 years) - $5, Children under 5 – free, Family ticket - $25.

Cash and checks made out to OLV/Holy Name of Mary will be accepted.

Menu will include scrambled eggs, pancakes, ham, sausage, breakfast potatoes, muffins, fruit, and beverages.

Top of Switzerland and Oberammergau Trip

Top of Switzerland & Oberammergau

9-day tour from Zurich to Munich | May 24–June 2, 2020*

Day 1 Arrive in Zurich, Switzerland. Welcome to Zurich! At 6 pm, meet your Tour Director and traveling companions for a welcome dinner at your hotel. (D)

Day 2 Zurich–Emmental Valley–Interlaken. Enjoy an orientation walk of Zurich’s well-preserved OLD TOWN with its medieval guild houses before continuing to the Emmental Valley to visit the SCHAUKÄSEREI AFFOLTERN  Try out the locally produced cheese, and enjoy a light lunch. A scenic drive brings you to Interlaken. The town’s unique location, nestled between Lake Thun and Lake Brienz, and surrounded by the world-famous Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau mountains, guarantees spectacular views. (B,L)

Day 3 Interlaken. Excursion to the Jungfrau. An unforgettable trip to the high Alpine wonderland of ice and snow is the true highlight of a visit to Switzerland. At an amazing 11,332 feet, the JUNGFRAUJOCH is Europe’s highest railway station. Jungfrau’s 13,642-foot summit was first ascended in 1811 and the rack railway was opened in 1912. There are lots of things to do here: enjoy the Alpine Sensation, the Panorama 360° Experience, the ICE PALACE, and take the elevator to the Sphinx Observatory. Also, receive your Jungfrau Passport as a souvenir to take home with you. The round trip to the “Top of Europe” by MOUNTAIN TRAIN will take most of the day. (B)

Day 4 Interlaken–Brienz–Ballenberg–Lucerne. Drive to Brienz, beautifully located on the turquoise-colored lake. Visit the interesting WOODCARVING MUSEUM , and walk through the romantic Brunngasse, once awarded the title “most beautiful street in Europe.” Next is a visit to the fascinating OPEN-AIR MUSEUM of Ballenberg with its centuries-old buildings from all parts of Switzerland. Arrive in picture-book Lucerne, where you will stay for the next two nights. Tonight, you may wish to join an optional dinner excursion to a folklore party with cheese fondue, yodeling, and alphorn blowing. (B)

Day 5 Lucerne. On your walking tour this morning, admire Thorwaldsen’s impressive LION MONUMENT , dedicated to the Swiss  Guards who protected the Royal House of France during the French Revolution, and the ornate patrician houses of the walled Old Town, then cross the famous covered CHAPEL BRIDGE to the Jesuit church. Later, an exciting optional excursion is available to Mount Pilatus, the “Guard of Lucerne,” and this evening, a special dinner has been prepared for you. (B,D)

Day 6 Lucerne–Innsbruck, Austria–Oberammergau, Germany. A comfortable drive brings you to Innsbruck in the Tyrolean mountains. Enjoy a walk through the Old Town to see the GOLDEN ROOF before arriving in picturesque Oberammergau. (B,D)

Day 7 Oberammergau. The afternoon and evening are dedicated to the world-famous PASSION PLAY, held every 10 years and performed by the people of Oberammergau. (B,L,D)

Day 8 Oberammergau–Munich. Arrive in Munich, where Germany’s “Secret Capital” comes alive during an orientation featuring the Olympic Stadium, 1,000-foot-high Olympic Tower, and MARIENPLATZ, in the historic heart of the city. Your afternoon and evening are at leisure. You may wish to join one of our exciting optional excursions. (B)

Day 9 Munich. Your vacation ends with breakfast this morning. (B)

Our speaker will be Father John Gibbons, who will be speaking about discerning God’s will in his talk, “How to Hear the Voice of God.” All young adults ages 21 to 39-ish are invited, and all are welcome to bring friends. Sound System Survey

As you may be aware, we've had some concerns expressed about our new sound system.  Since the Church, like most spaces, if very different when full than when empty, we need to get more input from you about exactly where and when you may have trouble hearing.  (and of course where it works well).   

So please take two minutes of your time to fill out this survey!

Please note that we made some significant improvements on Tues, Oct 1st, so please treat this survey as "things you hear after Oct 1st"
